With the soft start device SAE 3 a bi-directional power semi-conductor is integrated into one of the phases.

 

By contolling its firing angle in a time-dependant manner only a small current flows into one of the phases.

 

The current is steadily increased until the max. current flow angle is reached.

 

In this way the max. torque is present which is sufficient enough to enable a save start even with drives having a large friction torque at standstill.

 

The current rise time (running-up time) and the initial torque of the motor can be seperately set.

 

The settingpotentiometers are accessible by removing the front cover.

 

When the max. current flow angle is present after the settable starting time has elapsed a relay contact shortens the power semi-conductor, thus removing the starting electronics from the circuitry.

 

Since only 1 phase is influenced, an asymmetric rotating field is generated which causes a higher thermal loss of the motor.

The smoothly starting device TYPE SAE 3 KL has been equipped with a bi-directional power semi conductor integrated in one phase.

 

On account of the time-dependent control of its ignition angle, merely a low electric current first passes in one phase which then keeps increasing until the maximum current conducting angle becomes effective, thus creating the maximum torque, in this way assuring a safe start even with driving units of a very high starting moment.

 

The rising speed of the electric current (startup time) and the initial torque of the motor may be set separately.

If - upon termination of the run-up time - the maximum current conducting angle becomes effective, a relay contact bridges the semi power conductor, so that the startup electronics are no longer involved.

 

This motor soft starter is easy to use for your decentralised motors and it fits in a standard EXX terminal box.

The motor soft starter Type SSAZ controls a three-phase asynchronous motor in a soft start and a soft stop modus. The device is available fom 1.5KW till 3KW.
